Update Victim Identified – Winnipeg police investigate the city’s latest homicide in the West end

Winnipeg police responded to the report of an assault at a house in the 500 block of Toronto Street on February 26th at approximately 12:55pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find a man suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. The cause of death and victim’s identity have not been released at this time.

No arrests have been made, however Const. Rob Carver said there is no immediate threat to residents in the neighbourhood. Anyone with information that could help investigators to call the homicide unit at 204-986-6508. 

Update: The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Jorden James BATEMAN of Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit arrested and charged 21-year-old Jonathan Dakota Cree CHASKE of Winnipeg with Second Degree Murder. Police said the victim and the accused were previously known to each other.
