In the early hours of May 4, 2025, at approximately 1:48 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a stabbing incident in the 500 block of Waterfront Drive.

Central District General Patrol officers arrived at the scene and found an adult male with serious injuries consistent with an assault. Officers administered emergency first aid, including chest seals, until Winnipeg Fire Paramedics took over. The victim, 43-year-old Kerry Eastman, a Sandy Bay First Nation member living in Winnipeg, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.

Update: On May 5, 2025, Homicide investigators and the Tactical Support Team (TST) located the suspect male in the area of McGregor Street and Bannerman Avenue and arrested him without incident.

Wyatt Darius PRINCE, 24, of Winnipeg has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
