Winnipeg police homicide unit investigating the death of Danielle Harper

Winnipeg Police said they had been investigating the disappearance of Danielle Diane Harper, 35, who had last seen on July 12, 2020, in the 800 block of Main Street.

Danielle Harper was located deceased at a residence on July 23rd in the 700 block of Manitoba Avenue and her death is considered suspicious in nature. According to reports Harper suffered from a cognitive-developmental delay that made her vulnerable. The Homicide Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.

Police are asking to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Danielle Harper during the weekend of July 11 and beyond. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Update August 19th
Winnipeg police arrested Silas Ammaklak, 51, on August 18th and charged him with Second Degree Murder. Police said It is believed that Danielle Harper had attended the suspect’s residence in the 700 block of Manitoba Avenue during the evening of July 12, 2020. Soon after, she was severely assaulted and succumbed to her injuries.
