Winnipeg police responded to the report of a shooting in the 200 block of McDermot Avenue on November 5, 2022, at approximately 2:20 a.m.

On arrival police located  Tristan James Raynard ASHAM, 21, of Winnipeg suffering from gunshot injuries to the upper body. ASHAM was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Update On June 22, 2023, the B.C. Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (BCCFSEU) arrested the suspect on the strength of the warrant in Langley, B.C. The suspect was turned over to Homicide Unit investigators in Langley and flown back to Winnipeg to be processed.

The suspect and the victim were previously known to one another.

Shiv Austin HARPER, 20, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

– Second Degree Murder
– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order
– Warrant x 2
