Waterloo Regional Police Service continue to investigate the suspicious death of an 8-year-old child

Emergency services were called to a residence in the area of Townline Road and River Road in Cambridge on May 14th at approximately 10:00am.

Police arrived to find an 8-year-old male child deceased at the scene. The cause of death and victim’s identity has not been released. Investigators are awaiting a toxicology report.

Police are searching for Curtis Hesselink, 41, of Cambridge. Hesselink is known to the child, and there are concerns for his wellbeing and safety. If anyone sees him, please do not approach him, but contact the police immediately by calling 9-1-1.

On May 20th, Halton Regional Police located a deceased male in a bush area on a rural property in Milton. Police suspect the deceased man is Mr. Curtis Hesselink, however, they have yet to confirm his identity and are awaiting a post-mortem examination. His death is not being investigated as criminal.

Investigators have confirmed Hesselink is the father of the child. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service at 519-570-9777.
