Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of King Street North and Bridgeport Road after receiving reports of a stabbing incident on September 22, 2023, at approximately 2:35 a.m.

Police arrived to find a 20-year-old male with injuries sustained from the incident. The victim, 20-year-old Deron Camillus, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

One individual was taken into police custody shortly after the incident and has since been released. Police are continuing to search for a suspect in connection to this incident.

Update, on February 12, 2024, investigators arrested a 29-year-old Kitchener male in connection to this homicide. Police said Imre Czinczki has been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder. He remains in custody and will appear in Kitchener’s Ontario Court of Justice on February 23, 2024.
