Vancouver police responded to the report of an assault at Grandview Park on August 5th at approximately 1:30pm.
On arrival police located 60-year-old Gilles Hebert unconscious. Police said it is alleged that Hebert and another man became involved in a physical altercation leaving Hebert injured. Hebert was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries.
A gofundme was created to help the family with expenses.
Police have arrested a 32-year-old man but have not laid any charges at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call VPD’s Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips.
Update January 2021
After a lengthy investigation Vancouver police arrested Jeff Arnie Lincoln, 39, on January 1st, and charged him with Manslaughter.
Update Jeff Arnie Lincoln, 41, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced on August 30th. Lincoln was sentenced to six months in prison, in addition to a credit of 21 months for time that he has already served pre-sentence.
