Victoria police  responded to the report of a stabbing in the 500-block of Yates Street on March 1st at approximately 1:30am.

Police located a man suffering from serious injures and provided emergency first aid before B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics arrived. The victim was rushed to hospital by paramedics where he died of his injuries.

Patrol officers, working with a unit from the Integrated Canine Service, located and arrested the suspect shortly after 2:00am. Police said he remains in custody.
