Edmundston police responded to a call on Rosario Street, where they discovered the body of a 58-year-old man inside an apartment on July 1st.

The victim, identified in court as Jacques Levesque, was found lying on the floor with visible signs of severe injury. According to police, a concerned visitor had stopped by to see Levesque just after midnight. When there was no answer at the door, the visitor looked inside and saw him unresponsive, prompting a 911 call.

Edmundston Police Chief Steve Robinson confirmed that Levesque lived at the apartment.

Police arrested a 48-year-old man known to police for prior convictions. He has since been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Levesque’s death.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to the incident.
