Saskatchewan suspicious death: 51-year-old Canoe Lake Cree First Nation woman dies from injuries, RCMP investigating

On March 16, 2026, Beauval RCMP were alerted that a woman had been admitted for treatment of severe injuries. She died the following day, March 17. The victim has been identified as a 51-year-old woman from Canoe Lake Cree First Nation, and her family has been notified.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit has taken over the case, with support from North Battleford Forensic Identification Services, the North Battleford Serious Crimes Unit, and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

Early findings indicate the death is considered suspicious, and investigators continue to examine the circumstances. Police say the investigation remains ongoing and no additional details are being released at this time.
