Red Deer RCMP charge Christopher Furgason in relation to the homicide of Shaeleigh Jahner

Red Deer RCMP responded to an apartment building in the area of 59 Avenue and 60 Street for a firearms complaint on November 24th at approximately 1:30pm.

On arrival police located 26-year-old Shaeleigh Jahner a resident of Red Deer, deceased.

According to reports the community was placed under a shelter-in-place order, including the lockdown of the nearby Koinonia Christian School, while Mounties searched for the suspect.

Police arrested the suspect 32-year-old Christopher Furgason, a resident of Red Deer, on November 25th and charged him with manslaughter with a firearm.

Furgason is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Dec. 1.
