Youth charged with second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Jacob Michael Chitze

Leduc RCMP were dispatched to a house party on report of an injured man on June 18th at approximately 2:05am.

Police and paramedic arrived to find Jacob Michael Chitze, 19, of Edmonton deceased at the scene. Police originally categorized the death as suspicious, however stated in a press release on July 8th that the death has been declared a homicide.

Police said there were approximately 100 people who attended the party and they believe that people took video of the incident leading to Jacob’s death. There is no known connection between Chitze and the assailants.

Update October 27th
17-year-old suspect, who cannot be named, was arrested by Edmonton Police Service on the outstanding warrant on October 25th and charged with Second Degree Murder. The youth is scheduled for a court appearance on Oct. 29, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. in Leduc Provincial Court.
