Update Charges laid in the homicide of Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe in Portage la Prairie

RCMP responded to a report of found human remains near Baker Street, in Portage la Prairie on June 24th at approximately 9:30pm.

An autopsy was conducted and confirmed the death to be a homicide, however, investigators have not been able to identify the victim, and are requesting help from the public.

The victim is described as:

  • Male
  • Between the ages of 20 – 40
  • 5’7″ – 6’2″ in height
  • Has scoliosis of the spine (curvature of the spine)
  • Brown hair, possibly medium length

Update:
RCMP have identified the victim as Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe, 27, of Steinbach who was living in Winnipeg. Gerhard, who also goes by the name George, was known to frequent homeless shelters within the city. Police have released his photo in the hopes that someone recognizes him and can provide important information on his activities between May 15 and June 20, 2020. Update August 1st
RCMP arrested 29-year-old Kyle Evan Sinkovits of Winnipeg on July 29th and charged him with First Degree Murder, Forcible Confinement, and Indignity to a Dead Human Body. He is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on July 31, 2020.

Jonathan Bradley Narvey, of Winnipeg, was arrested on July 30th and charged with First Degree Murder, Forcible Confinement, and Indignity to a Dead Human Body. He will be appearing in Winnipeg Provincial Court on Aug 4, 2020.

Update August 11th
Teo more people have been arrested and charged in the homicide of Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe. Bobbi Lynn Hall, 26, Chelsea O’Hanley, 24, charged with 1st-degree murder.
