RCMP investigate the death of a Pukatawagan woman as a homicide

 Pukatawagan RCMP responded to the report of a body of a woman in a wooded area in the community on June 26th.

Police arrived to find the body of a 22-year-old female who was pronounced deceased. The cause of death has not been released, however police are treating the death as a homicide.

More information will be added as it becomes available.

Update June 30th

August Thunder Caribou, 22, who worked as a guard at an RCMP detachment in northwestern Manitoba, was arrested on June 29th and charged with second-degree murder.

Manitoba’s Court of Queen’s Bench has found August Thunder Caribou guilty of manslaughter instead of second-degree murder.
