Kingston – Cara Cochrane dies in hospital following domestic violence incident

Kingston police were notified by hospital staff that Cara Cochrane was in hospital in critical condition and was unresponsive, on June 8th. 

Police launched an investigation resulting in detectives charging 35-year-old Brady James Maher with two prior historic domestic violence incidents between 2018 and 2020, resulting in charges of assault causing bodily harm and assault. Police arrested Maher on June 8th. After investigating the scene of the assault, on June 18 additional charges of aggravated assault and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

On June 21st police were notified that Cara Cochrane, 37, died of life-threatening injury she had received during the attack. Additional or upgraded charges being anticipated.
