​On March 27, 2025, at approximately midnight, Sault Ste. Marie police responded to a report of gunfire at a multi-unit residence in the 600 block of Bay Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 25-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.​

Following an investigation, detectives identified a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On April 4, 2025, the accused was located and arrested in the 200 block of Wellington Street West. He faces charges of manslaughter, four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and failure to comply with a probation order. The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.​
