Peel police responded to a shooting in the area of Oakwood Avenue South and Wanita Road, on June 21st at approximately 8:30pm.

On arrival police located two people suffering from gunshot injuries. 25-year-old Shahid Todd was pulled from the lake. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 19-year-old woman also sustained injuries, however, she is expected to recover.

Police said they believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no risk to the general public.

According to reports, a man by the same name as the victim was charged with attempted murder back in 2020.
