A shooting on Big Island Lake Cree Nation has left one person dead and three others injured. The deceased has been identified as Neil Wahpistikwan, his father confirmed.

Saskatchewan RCMP are warning the public about dangerous individuals believed to be armed with a firearm on Big Island Lake Cree Nation.

The suspects are described as two people last seen riding an ATV in the area. Residents are urged to seek shelter immediately, secure their homes, and lock all doors.

Investigators have been working to identify suspects, locate witnesses, review surveillance footage, and track a side-by-side vehicle believed to be involved.

Police are now asking the public for help in identifying the white side-by-side with a black roof and the individuals who were inside it that morning. A video is available here. The side-by-side is described as white with a black roof. RCMP say public assistance is needed to move the investigation forward and are urging anyone with information to come forward, even if they are hesitant to speak with police.

More information has been released by investigators. The investigation began around 5:10 a.m. when police received reports of gunfire. Two youths were found at separate nearby residences with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were later determined to have been shot together by suspects on the side-by-side. About 45 minutes later, officers responded to another shooting and found a 31-year-old man with gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth victim, an adult male who was with the deceased, was also found injured and taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
