Montreal police responded to a report by family members that several people were missing at 12:15 a.m. Thursday July 27th.
Police said the investigation led officers to a townhouse on Terrasse J-S-Aimé-Ashby where they located a 56-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter deceased. Police have not released the cause of death but said they were murdered.
Police spokesperson Mariane Allaire Morin said “There is a suspect in the case; there are important witnesses that we are trying to find.”
Investigators said the vehicle that belonged to the family was found abandoned next to the Musée de Lachine.
Update July 28th
Montreal police recovered the body of a 59-year-old man, a suspect in the case, from the Lachine Canal on Thursday, July 27th. Investigators confirmed that the man pulled from the canal was the husband and father of the victims.
