Montreal police responded to a home at 271 des Érables Ave on October 19th.
Police arrived to find 65-year-old Louise Boucher and a 60-year-old Wayne Arnott deceased at approximately 9:30pm. The cause of death has not been released at this time, however police said their bodies showed marks of violence.
The couple’s son Mitchell Arnott, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with their deaths on October 20th. According to reports Mitchell was arrested shortly after he showed up at a local hospital wearing bloody clothes.
Update Jan 29th: According to reports, Superior Court Justice Marc David ruled that Mitchell Arnott, a 31-year-old from Montreal, was experiencing a mental illness on October 19, 2022, when he took the lives of his parents.
Both the prosecution and defense agreed that Mitchell Arnott should not be held criminally responsible for his actions due to his mental disorder.
The judge also ordered that Arnott be detained at a psychiatric hospital.
