Calgary police we were called to the 100 block of 10 Avenue S.E., for reports of an assault on March 18th at approximately 6:40am.

On arrival police and paramedics located an injured woman in her 30s unconscious. Dispite lifesaving efforts the woman died of her injuries shortly after.

The victim’s identity will not be released until the autopsy has been completed.

Police announced on March 19th that Michael John ADENYI, 26, had been charged with first-degree murder. Investigators have ruled out any possible connection between the victim and the accused.

Update: The Victim has been identified as Vanessa Ladouceur, 31, and cause of death has been determined to be a stabbing.
