Update: Jordan Aberaham Tyo Charged With Manslaughter – Métis Man Kyle Christopher Desjarlais Killed in Winnipeg Assault

Winnipeg police are continuing to investigate a homicide following a violent incident that occurred on the evening of June 8, 2026, at a commercial property in the 200 block of Salter St.

According to investigators, a 34-year-old man arrived at the business shortly after 8:00 p.m. and was confronted by several individuals. A verbal dispute reportedly broke out and escalated into a physical attack involving a weapon. The suspects left the scene before officers arrived.

Emergency responders transported the victim to hospital in critical condition, but he later died from his injuries.

Police have identified the victim as Kyle Christopher Desjarlais, a Métis citizen who was living in Winnipeg at the time of his death.

Update: On June 22, at 1:17 p.m., the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit (MIVAOU), with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST), arrested 28-year-old Jordan Aberaham TYO in the 300 block of McKenzie Street without incident.

TYO has been charged with Manslaughter and was detained in custody.
