Homicide Section investigating the death of Mahad Bashir Farah in Edmonton

Edmonton police responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 109 Street and 109 Avenue on December 8th at approximately 3:00pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find Mahad Bashir Farah, 25, lying injured in the street. He was pronounced at the scene. An autopsy was performed and revealed the cause of death to be a gunshot wound and his death has been confirmed as a homicide.

EPS said The Homicide Section has taken carriage of the investigation. Anyone with information or video footage can contact the EPS at 780-423-4567

Homicide investigators are looking for tips about the identity of a male observed near the scene of Mahad Bashir Farah’s homicide. Police said the man in question was observed on security footage to have been in the area of 109 Avenue between 106 and 109 Street, between 2:30 and 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020. Investigators say he may be associated with a black SUV that was in the area at the same time.

Police are looking to identify him so they can speak with him, as he was in the area at the time of the homicide and may have information that could assist in the investigation.
