The Hamilton 2024 Homicide Victim List is available here

Hamilton Paramedics responded to a medical incident at 36 Queen Street South on August 3, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Police located David Fugler, 46, unconscious in his room. He was rushed to the hospital where he passed away early the next morning. An autopsy was completed on August and revealed the manner of death to be a homicide. Police have not released the cause of death.

At this time, no arrests have been made. Police have confirmed that firearms are not involved in this investigation, and David was not previously known to the police.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death and will be in the area over the next couple of days, speaking to witnesses and collecting video. 

Update: On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Hamilton police arrested Hemraj Lakhan, Fugler’s 40-year-old roommate, on charges of second-degree murder. Lakhan is being held for bail and is scheduled to appear in court today August 7th.
