On the evening of July 26, 2025, at around 9:30 p.m., Gleichen RCMP responded to a serious collision involving pedestrians in the 54 Map 3 Subdivision on Siksika Nation. When officers arrived, they found that two people had died at the scene and a third was critically injured. Two others were not harmed.
According to the investigation so far, the group of five was walking when they were struck by a vehicle, which then fled without stopping.
The victims who died have been identified as two men, 27-year-old Trayton Runningbird and 45 year-old Clifton Saddleback, both from Siksika Nation. A 45-year-old woman, also from Siksika Nation, remains in critical condition. RCMP extended their condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has laid charges against 27-year-old Adolphus Weaselchild, including two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
