The 2025 BC Homicide Victim List is available here

On July 27, 2025, at around 11:35 p.m., officers responded to a report of a burning vehicle in the 52100-block of Cheam Road.

When police and fire crews arrived, they found one person dead inside the vehicle. Investigators believe foul play may be involved.

The area has been secured and is expected to remain blocked off for an extended period as the investigation continues. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the case and is working closely with both Agassiz and Chilliwack RCMP.

Update August 20th: IHIT has identified the victim as 22-year-old Hamza Fazil of Surrey in an effort to advance the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with dash cam footage from the area of Cheam Road or Bridal Falls Road between 8:00 p.m. on July 27 and 2:00 a.m. on July 28 to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
