Fatal Edmonton hit and run involving a cyclist now being investigated as homicide

Edmonton police responded to a hit-and-run collision in the area of 156 Street and 107 Avenue on December 1st at approximately 12:00pm.

According to police a black Lincoln SUV struck a male cyclist in a parking lot and immediately fled the scene. The victim, 31-year-old Lawrence Bishop, died in hospital with the cause of death being a blunt injury.

Johnathan Morgan, 38 was arrested following the collision and charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after an accident resulting in death, and suspended driving.

Investigators have since discovered the victim and the accused knew one another. The EPS Homicide Section is now leading the investigation. Investigators continue to ask witnesses and those who have dashcam or home security footage of the collision or the events leading up to the collision to please contact the EPS by calling 780-423-4567.
