Suspect Eric John Shestalo was found deceased following a double homicide in Chilliwack

Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment RCMP responded to the report of a triple shooting in a home in the 9700-block of McNaught Avenue on July 21st at approximately 11:00am.

Police said one of the female victims died at the scene, while the second woman was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital where she later died. The male victim suffered non-life threating injuries. The victims have been identified as Amber Culley, 43, Mimi Kates, 49.

Eric John Shestalo, 50, has been identified as the alleged shooter. IHIT believes Shestalo was known to the victims and the shooting was targeted. Shestalo was last seen driving a red 1990 Jeep YJ, which appears to have a yellow painted front end and may have B.C. license plate MT9 81W. Shestalo is described as white, five feet and nine inches tall and 176 pounds. He was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket, and a black hat with an orange rim.

RCMP said Shestalo and the victims knew each other, but did not elaborate on their relationship.

IHIT is also looking for witnesses and video footage. Anyone who was in the area of the 9700-block of McNaught Avenue between 9 a.m. and noon is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-4448, or email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

Update July 26th
RCMP announced that the body of Eric John Shestalo was located on July 25th near Bridal Falls, east of the Fraser Valley city. Preliminary findings indicate he died by suicide.
