Around 10 p.m on April 6, Edmonton police responded to reports of gunshots near 66 Street and 38 Avenue. Upon arrival, they found 52-year-old Darrell Demchuk who had been injured. Despite efforts to save him, emergency medical services declared him dead at the scene.
The investigation has since been taken over by the Homicide Section, and an autopsy is scheduled for April 8, 2025.
Update: Police said The Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, and determined that, Darrell Demchuk, 52, died of gunshot wounds. The manner of death is homicide.
Update: On Sunday, April 13, 2025, police arrested Jerad Wuttunee, 36, and Brandon Herry, 45. Both were charged with first-degree murder.
