RNC has arrested 19-year-old Ibrahim Husseinin in connection to a fatal St. John’s Shooting

On April 8, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a weapons incident in the Watson Street area in the east end of St. John’s.

When they arrived, they found a 33-year-old man outside a residence with severe injuries that appeared to be gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to the hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries.

Following their investigation, the RNC has obtained a warrant for the arrest of 19-year-old Ibrahim Hussein from St. John’s. Hussein faces several charges, including:

  • First-degree murder
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Breach of release order

Update April 11th, (RNC) has confirmed that Ibrahim Hussein has been arrested. Hussein was located by the RCMP in Port aux Basques and with the assistance of officers of the RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West, arrested just before 12 p.m. today at the ferry terminal.
