Canada Wide Warrant issued for Filimon Asmelash ASFIHA – Calgary police investigate the fatal shooting of a man in Radisson Heights

Calgary police responded to reports of gunshots at the Ambassador Restaurant and Bar, located at 3504 17 Avenue S.E. on August 21st at approximately 4:40am.

On Arrival police located a man suffering from a gunshot wound and began life-saving measures. The victim died at the scene and police have not released his identity at this time.

According to Calgary police, witnesses saw a man flee the scene. The suspect is described as being male, approximately 30 years old, 6’ 2” tall, with a medium build and short black hair.

Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting, or who was in the area at the time of the shooting, is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. 

An autopsy was completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, and the man has been identified as Temesgen TESFATSION, 35, of Calgary.

Update September 2nd
Calgary police have issued a Canada Wide Warrant for the arrest of Filimon Asmelash ASFIHA, 34, who is charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of Mr. Tesfatsion. ASFIHA is described as 5’11” tall, with a medium build and short black hair. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police.

This homicide marks the 19th murder for the city of Calgary in 2022.
