Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 5500-block of Kingsway, near Denbigh Avenue on January 23rd at approximately 10:30 p.m.

On arrival police located a located a man suffering from serious gunshot wounds. Police and first responders attempted life-saving measures, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

At this time, investigators believe the shooting was targeted and there are no further risks to the public from this incident.

IHIT has been notified and has taken conduct of the investigation. Further details will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer. Homicide investigators are looking for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video in the area of Kingsway and Denbigh Avenue on January 23, 2024, between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
