Peel police were called to a shooting in the area of Vivians Crescent and Stokes Road, on January 18th at around 7:00pm.
Police and paramedics arrived to find a man inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.
Const. Tyler Bell-Morena of Peel Regional Police said “the evidence suggests that the shooting took place inside the vehicle where the man was found. Police said their investigation indicates that the vehicle crashed.”
Update: on April 9th Peel police announced that Qeyran Hannay, a 24-year-old man from Brampton, was charged on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, with the following offences:
- Attempted Murder using Firearm (X2)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
At the time of this incident Qeyran Hannay was on Federal Parole for firearm-related offences. He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Investigators identified two other individuals involved in the shooting, and on Thursday, April 4, 2024, police executed two search warrants at Brampton residences.
Nathaniel Bowen, a 21-year-old man from Brampton is charged with:
- Second Degree Murder
- Attempted Murder
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
Taliek Whittaker, a 22-year-old man from Brampton is charged with:
- Accessory After the Fact to Murder
Both Whittaker and Bowen were held for bail hearings and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
