After nearly six years, RCMP in Alberta have made an arrest in connection with the 2019 disappearance and presumed death of Twyla Evans.
Evans, 39, was last seen in September 2019 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Although her body was never recovered, investigators determined her death to be a homicide.
On Friday, RCMP arrested 49-year-old Stan Cross. He has since been charged with first-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in a Wetaskiwin courtroom on Tuesday.
RCMP say the arrest came as a result of recent developments in the case.
In a statement, Inspector Breanne Brown of the Alberta RCMP Historical Homicide Unit emphasized the dedication of her team:
“Our investigators are committed to speaking for those who no longer can. We don’t stop working these cases, no matter how much time has passed. Our team is still focused on bringing Twyla home and providing answers to her loved ones.”
