The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is alerting the public to an ongoing police presence at a multi-unit residential building located in the 700 block of Pine Street.
Officers responded to a call for service in the early morning of June 19, 2025, and discovered a deceased person inside one of the units. The scene was quickly secured.
The investigation has been turned over to detectives from Investigation Services, who are treating the case as a homicide. Early findings suggest the incident was targeted.
Update October 30th:
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has issued a Canada-wide warrant for 52-year-old Scott Devlin, wanted for second-degree murder and indignity to a dead body.
Devlin, who was reported missing on June 18, 2025, is now believed to be connected to a homicide discovered on June 19, 2025, at a multi-unit residence in the 700 block of Pine Street in Sault Ste. Marie. The victim was 30 years old.
He was last seen on June 17, 2025, near Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and may still be in the Greater Toronto Area.
Devlin is described as 5’10”, with a thin to medium build and blonde hair. He has tattoos of a panther and the word “sinner” on one arm, and the word “saint” on the other.
Update: On November 6, 2025, Sault Ste. Marie Police charged 52-year-old Scott Devlin with second-degree murder and indignity to a dead body.
Detectives located Devlin around 5:15 p.m. near Union Station in Toronto, where they identified and arrested him. He was later transported back to Sault Ste. Marie and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
