Toronto police found a 28-year-old man with gunshot wounds in a laneway near Eglinton Avenue West and Keele Street after responding to a medical emergency call around 2:15 a.m on June 19th.

Officers attempted life-saving measures before the man was taken to hospital, where he later died. Police initially treated the case as a suspicious death, but investigators have since confirmed that the man’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Isaiah Peters Alexander.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Omar Peters, 44, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in room 107.
