Marbens Dorelus has been identified as the victim of Montreal’s twentieth homicide this year. The 21-year-old, who had no prior criminal record, died Wednesday afternoon after being found critically injured inside a residential building in Anjou, where gunfire had been reported.
Dorelus was pronounced dead in an apartment on Des Ormeaux Street, just steps from where he lived. The incident occurred in broad daylight.
Montreal police were called to the scene near Georges Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. Paramedics declared the young man dead upon arrival. Authorities set up a security perimeter around the building as investigators and forensic teams worked to determine exactly what happened.
