York Regional Police responded to the report of an injured person call at a residence in the area of Centre Street and Dufferin Street on January 4th at 6:10 p.m.
Police and paramedics arrived on scene, and located an unresponsive infant in the home. The infant was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The cause of death has not been released.
York Regional Police Homicide Unit has charged the victim’s mother, 37-year-old Zoya Berelovich, with First Degree Murder.
According to Global news, the infant has been identified as Benjamin Berelovich. A GoFundMe set up to raise money for the child’s funeral expenses.
