Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 100 block of Disraeli Freeway for the report of a male who had been assaulted earlier that day and transported to hospital by ambulance, on December 9th.

Police said Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, a male suspect was identified, and an assault-related warrant was issued for his arrest. 

The victim, 59-year-old Floyd Flett of Winnipeg, remained in hospital where he died of his injuries on December 26, 2023.

A Crown consultation, a charge of Manslaughter was authorized, and on December 29, 2023, police arrested a 30-year-old male for Manslaughter and other weapons-related charges. Investigators said the accused’s name will follow at a later date for investigational purposes.
