Ontario Provincial Police responded to an incident in the community of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation, formerly Big Trout Lake First Nation, on January 1st at approximately 3:00pm.

OPP said initially one individual was found to be deceased. Investigators later discovered a second deceased person. Police said one person is the victim of a homicide, they have not released the victim’s identity at this time.

Investigators released no further details but said they believe there is no threat to public safety.
