14-year-old girl charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of a woman in Fort Good Hope

Fort Good Hope police have arrested a 14-year-old girl in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred on Sunday, March 23. At around 11:20 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the community after reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, they found a woman with severe injuries and rushed her to the health center, where she tragically passed away shortly after.

The young suspect has been charged with second-degree murder under Section 235 of the Criminal Code. She appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody, with a court appearance scheduled for March 25 in Yellowknife.

Due to her age, the suspect’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The “G” Division Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Identification Services.
