On November 23, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a call reporting possible human remains found in an alley in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue.
Officers from the North District secured the area, and Forensic Identification personnel took custody of the remains.
An autopsy later confirmed that the partial remains were human.
Update April 10th 2026: The partial remains have now been identified through DNA testing as Leah Faye KEEPER, who was 32 years old at the time she went missing. Leah was reported missing on November 21st, 2023. Leah was born in Little Grand Rapids First Nation, and raised in Sagkeeng First Nation.
The investigation was considered to be a suspicious death, and the Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.
