On February 2, 2025, at around 6:52 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a call about an unresponsive man who had been assaulted on Blake Street.
Officers, with the help of K-9 units, located the victim, 34-year-old Justin Boulanger, a member of Berens River First Nation who lived in Winnipeg, and provided emergency medical assistance before he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead. The cause of death has not been released.
Update: On February 6, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, the Drone Unit, and East and Central General Patrol officers, investigators arrested 43-year-old Stephanie Lee TRAVERSE, of Winnipeg at her residence.
Police believe that TRAVERSE was in the company of BOULANGER inside a suite in the 300 block of Blake Street, when a verbal argument ensued between her and BOULANGER. The argument escalated with TRAVERSE discharging an improvised firearm towards BOULANGER.
