Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is searching for 27-year-old Derrick Phazar Whitford in connection to the 2024 homicide of Travis Strawberry

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is searching for 27-year-old Derrick Phazar Whitford, who has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the November 2024 homicide of 18-year-old Travis Strawberry on O’Chiese First Nation.

Whitford is also wanted for a range of other offenses, including breach of probation, dangerous driving, robbery, and firearm-related crimes. Despite efforts to locate him, RCMP have been unsuccessful so far.

Whitford is believed to have ties to the Red Deer and Edmonton areas and may be in or around O’Chiese or Sunchild First Nations. He is described as 6 feet tall, 138 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, and has been known to use multiple aliases. Authorities warn that he is armed and dangerous and urge the public to call 911 if they see him. Anyone with information can contact Rocky Mountain House RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
