Vancouver Homicide Victim List

Vancouver Police have opened a full homicide investigation and are urgently asking the public for help after a 15-year-old Surrey boy died from injuries sustained in a violent altercation near Robson Square.

Police said the incident occurred July 19th, shortly before 11:40 p.m. near the Vancouver Law Courts at the intersection of Smithe and Hornby Streets.

On arrival, first responders located the teen suffering from stabbing injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries on Sunday morning.

“This is a devastating loss, and our investigators have been working around the clock to find answers,” said Sergeant Steve Addison of the Vancouver Police Department. “We believe there are people out there who know something—whether it’s a piece of information, or video footage—and we’re urging them to come forward.”

Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was in the downtown area bounded by Georgia Street (north), Smithe Street (south), Howe Street (east), and Hornby Street (west) between 11:30 and 11:45 p.m. on Saturday night. Investigators are also asking drivers who may have dash-cam footage from that timeframe to review their recordings for anything suspicious.

Update: A 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody at approximately 11 p.m, on July 21st, after turning himself in to a VPD patrol officer near Kingsway and Nanaimo Street.
