On Monday, May 24, 2021, police responded to a radio call for a wellbeing check in the Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue area.

Police said they located  Michael Nobel, 51, of Toronto, suffering from with obvious signs of trauma. Nobel was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, Zola Zenguele, 26, and John Mackenzie, 26, both of Toronto, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. They are scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
