Update three men charged: Toronto Homicide #13 – Shooting leaves a woman dead and injured a second woman in Scarborough

Emergency crews were called to a home near Sheppard Avenue East and Brimley Road on March 13th at approximately 10:00am.

Police and paramedics arrived to find two people suffering from serious injuries. The victims were rushed to hospital where one has died from their injuries. Police have not released the identities of the victims.

Update March 15th
Toronto police have identified the deceased as Theepa Seevaratnam, 38, of Toronto. An autopsy was conducted on Saturday, March 14, revealed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest. The second victim was also a woman, she remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A suspect has been described as male, black, 5’8” to 6’, with a medium build, short hair, wearing light pants and a dark jacket. Anyone who was in the area at the time, or has any information about the shooting, to immediately contact police at 416-808-7400,

Update April 1st
Toronto Police Service arrested Steadley Kerr, 28, of Toronto, on March 30th and charged him with:
1. Second Degree Murder
2. Attempted Murder

Update July 8th
Toronto police arrested Gary Samuels, 27, of Oshawa and Vijendran Balasubramaniam, 42, of Toronto, on July 7th. Both men were charged with:

1. First Degree Murder
2. Conspiracy to Commit Murder

According to police Steadley Kerr is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Thursday, July 23, 2020, where his charges will be upgraded to:

1. First Degree Murder
2. Conspiracy to Commit Murder
3. Attempted Murder
