Ontario Provincial Police responded to the report of a barricaded person after receiving a report of a shooting at a residence on Highview Drive, on October 25, 2024, Just before 9:00.

Police said it was the 52-year-old who contacted police and advised that he had harmed two family members inside a Huntsville residence, and that he was in possession of weapons.

Crisis negotiators and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and officers set up a perimeter around the home and were able to communicate with the man over the phone. The Special Investigations Unit said shortly after communication stopped, a drone was sent into the home to conduct a search of the residence. The bodies of two deceased women were located, as was the body of a deceased man.

The identities of the deceased have not been released.
