Just after 6:00 a.m. on July 31, 2024, Sudbury police responded to a call near the large gazebo northeast of the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre in Bell Park for a report of Ambulance Assistance. Paramedics from Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services were already on scene, providing care to a person in medical distress. Sadly, the individual was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Pat Forgues. With the consent of his family, Greater Sudbury Police have released his name in hopes of gathering more information to move the investigation forward.

On April 15, 2025, police announced that based on autopsy results and additional testing by the Coroner’s Office, Pat Forgues’ injuries were found to be unexplained and not self-inflicted. His death is now being treated as a homicide. The postmortem confirmed he had suffered serious internal injuries.
Detectives with the Major Crime Section are continuing their investigation in partnership with the Coroner’s Office.
