Emergency crews responded to a collision involving a pedestrian in a commercial area of Strathmore, Alberta, at approximately 9:00 pm on Sunday, September 7th.

According to Strathmore RCMP, a black Dodge Ram hit a man near Pine Road. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Dante Waterchief from the Siksika Nation, was transported to a hospital in Calgary, where he died of his injuries.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has since taken over the investigation. As a result, 22-year-old Kyera Oldwoman, also from the Siksika Nation, has been charged with second-degree murder. She remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Siksika on
